If you’re anything like us, you’re more than excited for some warmer weather and more sunshine! Springtime lends itself to freshness and newness, sometimes even more than New Year’s does! People tend to clean out their homes, garages, and sheds to prepare for the spring and summer, and to have a fresh, clean start to the season. This spring, we have some tips to help you get started on your spring cleaning to make it as refreshing and rejuvenating as possible to start off your spring on a great note!
Start your spring cleaning on a beautiful day without rain. Set aside some time to really get some real cleaning done. Open up all the windows to get some air circulating through your home before the allergy season comes. March is a great time to do this because not very many plants are blooming yet, but the days are getting warmer and the outdoor air is fresh and clean. Refreshing the mustiness in your home will be an invigorating experience in and of itself.
Spring cleaning is a great time to tackle the once-a-year house upkeep tasks like cleaning out the rain gutters, dusting the refrigerator coils, waxing your wood floor, or getting your carpet cleaned. This is also a good time to change the filters on your furnace and A/C.
By taking care of these tasks, your home will have that deep cleaning feeling and you’ll feel better living in a healthier, cleaner environment.
Take the time to launder your window dressings and then wipe down your windows, inside and out. Dust blinds, too – blinds are a trap for dust and allergens. Check the weather strip on doors and windows to make sure they are in good shape.
Fix the things that you’ve never gotten around to fixing. We all have a pile of little projects that may not take more than 20 minutes if we just get to doing them. Starting is always the hardest part. Whether it’s fixing the squeaky door, taking the vacuum in to the repair shop, or repainting that chipped corner of the wall, take the time to take care of those little projects.
Besides cleaning away dirt and grime, spring cleaning is a perfect excuse to get rid of clutter. Go through some closets through your home and get rid of the stuff you don’t need or use anymore. This tip also applies to your garage. Spring is a great time to downsize and let you feel good about donating things you don’t use while downsizing the clutter in your life.
